DJ Andy Smith: Trojan Document

Andy Smith: Trojan DocumentMore music posts? - I do have a day job, honest! Infact I’m going to an Andy Clarke workshop in Leicester tomorrow, so more about that after the event. But for now - back to the music.

I have been a big fan of Dj Andy Smith’s “Document” series. Since the original ‘The Document’ which you probably won’t find a new copy of, unless you buy a reprint from Disc Kiosk, like I did, to replace my missing original. I hold ‘The Document 2’ in similarly high regard, the outro track, Barbara Acklin’s - Am I the Same Girl? Will have you muttering “da da da dada ba ba baaaa a baba ba da daaaaa… “(or something), for a long time. I’ve got it on vinyl somewhere, but thinking about it now I might get a copy for my iPod.

Trojan Document, is no dissapointment, it passed the Colly and Greg test in the office today and it’s ska/roots/dub rhythms are still rattling around in my head some considerable time after the event. Andy Smith’s site probably sums it up better than I can.

“Andy giving the listener a live sound system experience complete with rewinds, shout outs and reverb sounds. The Trojan Document takes you on a journey from early Ska, Rocksteady, Roots, Dub, DJ tracks and Dancehall – it’s set to be yet another classic”

Yep. That just about nails it.
